Model Engineer Exhibition, hosted by Magicalia, Ascot
Racecourse. The show, which had
a successful maiden appearance in Berkshire last year, with thousands
of visitors declaring it a big hit. Hundreds of models engineered
by individuals or modelling clubs will be on show as part of
the prestigious exhibition competition, regarded as one of the
finest of its type. Trade companies will also be exhibiting,
offering everything from individual nuts and bolts through to
machine tools for workshops and complete model kits. Jez Walters
from exhibition organisers Magicalia said: "Last year's
show was warmly received by everyone involved and we are confident we can offer
an even better experience for visitors this time. "Ascot Racecourse is
an excellent venue and gives all our visitors the chance to see some wonderful
exhibits up close." There are around 35,000 active model engineers in the
UK, with most working from home in their own workshop creating models that can
take anything from two days to 20 years to build. The Model Engineer exhibition
is the oldest of its kind in the country and Jez added: "We also have some
very exciting new ideas in place for this year’s
show. They really will bring something new to the exhibition and we will make
an announcement soon." For more information contact Bowles Associates on

Major new attraction at Model Engineer Exhibition
Visitors to the Model Engineer Exhibition are expected to come steaming in after organisers booked more than 2.5km of track to run model locomotives. The 5in gauge track is being brought over to the UK for the first time from Sinsheim in Germany, which is the most popular exhibition of its type in Europe with track running throughout the halls.
The Model Engineer Exhibition will be using 2.5km of the same track when the show, now in its 101st event, returns to Ascot Racecourse from September 19-21.
Jez Walters from exhibition organisers Magicalia said: "Sinsheim really is seen as a 'mecca' for model engineers and it's a huge coup for us to using Sinsheim's track.
"The announcement of this feature has resulted in much excitement in the model engineering community, and with so much track available, there's a great opportunity to see many wonderful exhibits in action.
"Our track will include turntables, traversers and passing loops and we anticipate this will be very popular with visitors and exhibitors.
"Everyone is very welcome to bring appropriate locomotives to the show to run on the track, but it is important they contact the organisers in advance to make arrangements and confirm suitability."
Visitors will be able to enjoy the Sinsheim experience in a number of ways, as they can sit in the famous Ascot Grandstand and watch the action before either walking under the racecourse or taking a shuttle bus to the railway.
Model Engineering is the hobby of constructing machines in miniature, with models ranging from steam locomotives to boats and aircraft. Models are typically made in metal and machined from stock metal and castings.
Apart from the 5in gauge track, visitors will also be able to see hundreds of models engineered by individuals or modelling clubs as part of the prestigious exhibition competition, regarded as one of the finest of its type.
Trade companies will also be exhibiting, offering everything from individual nuts and bolts through to machine tools for workshops and complete model kits.
